Right, about to have a kitchen extension built and an ancient kitchen replaced. Never done this before. Baffled by the choice. So, those of you who have had a new kitchen in, say, past five years, who would you recommend and who would you avoid at all cost? Sorry, should clarify that I'm after a Shaker style kitchen as have some original s cabinetry that is too pretty to ditch.
They are just finishing installing ours now and have been amazing throughout. Good designer, lots of site visits by designer and their surveyor who used to be one of their top fitters to check everything, 5 fitters one did two kitchen for Liz Hurley - she insisted he came back to do the second kitchen and a 5 painter he paints all of the cabinets in their showrooms around the country.
The surveyor is back to check at each stage.

They have been amazingly patient and flexible with me. Yes they are expensive, although we got a very good deal on the cabinets I ordered between Christmas and new year - sales targets? Sources our worktops, sink, Quooker and waste disposal direct - saved a bit there. The product and service delivered have been excellent. And design and appliances too. The fitter was Sarbjit and his team. They were absolutely brilliant, so hard working and skilled in what they did. It was a pleasure to have him fit our kitchen. We hope you enjoy your new kitchen for many years to come. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our kitchen needed pipe boxing in for the boiler. I asked Magnet about it, and they agreed to do it as addition to the kitchen installation. The first fitter ghosted us. Then I contacted Magnet and they recommended another fitter to do the job. I am very disappointed with Magnet kitchens service.
I feel I am not being respected as a customer. I do not understand why they agreed to take on the job in the first place when I asked. The fitter even came to my house to do the measurement, provided quote etc. Hi Janice, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. The ordering was easy and the team helped with lots of advice. The delivery was great and each item was carried in by the team. Small mark on one draw front which I noticed a few weeks after delivery. I contacted the office and they sent out a replacement straightaway. Top company in all respects. Thank you. Date of experience: 19 October The planning stage was nice and straightforward and questions were answered swiftly.
The kitchen itself is pretty good, however we opted for dove grey and cobham blue handleless units and now regret that decision. The cobham blue units show every single mark and fingerprint and need constant cleaning. We have also had a couple of small areas of damage during installation and in daily use and I got in touch and bought some touch up paint.
This was extremely hard to use and the ares that were repaired are quite obvious and stand out a bit. Overall we are pleased and the quartz worktop really finishes it but in hindsight we wouldn't have had the dark blue units. Date of experience: 23 January A kitchen come true! We ordered our kitchen from DIY after months of visiting the showroom, mapping it out online and deciding on our dreams.
It looks absolutely top of the range and we love it very much. Date of experience: 20 January The process of ordering the kitchen was really straight forward. I enjoyed the online design tool, which allowed me to maximise the usable space in the kitchen. After visiting the showroom to make the final selection my order was placed and I was kept fully upto date on the manufacture and delivery time frames.
The units are delivered fully built so it made the installation straight forward. The kitchen is very well built and I am very happy with it. We had our new kitchen for just over a year now and it has held up very well to the challenges of family life. The paintwork is still pristine, shelves are level, and carcasses intact. We had bought taps, handles, and worktops locally.
We had a minor niggle with one of the appliances early on but that was replaced under warranty and has been problem-free since. Overall, very happy with quality, price, and service. The laminated work top has delaminating and blowed after less than six months. The worktop is in a utility room and is never damp. The sink next to the worktop is hardly ever used.
Why do DIY kitchens sell such inferior products. They should have a warning that laminated worktops should not be used any any room where there is a sink or any water. I have been offered a replacement identical work top. There is no point going to the expense of engaging a carpenter to cut and replace the work top with the same quality product.
The original order had missing pieces so my builders were delayed by two weeks for installing the products. My builders were highly professional and this is the room where I tried to lower my budget. Big mistake. You get what you pay for. In this case a cheap looking utility room with a rubbish quality. Very disappointed.
