Daniel PlainviewOct 15, I like Timothy White's book, "The Nearest Faraway Place", mostly due to the early genealogy of the Wilson family and their original trek out west. Carlin's book is fair and well researched and the most up to date. I didn't think it would have any information that a longtime fan like I would need, but it actually is an informative and fun to read book.
Priore's "Smile - The True Story of etc" is about a book about a fictitious legend and not necessarily based on any hard facts, mostly hearsay and conjecture "those are KINDS of evidence! A nice picture painted of Sunset Strip mid's but not much else. Heroes and Villains by Steven Gaines is trashy but sometimes that's what we want to read, no?
